Irene Emily Schultz, 90, of Kirkland, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, February 17, 2021 in Kirkland. She was born October 24, 1930 to George and Mildred (Schwiesow) Henk. She married her sweetheart, Raymond Schultz, July 15, 1950 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Itasca, IL. She was a homemaker/farmer for many years. Irene was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church since 1966 with her husband, Ray. She loved farming, gardening, polka dancing and bird watching.

Irene is loved and will be truly missed by her husband; daughters, Diane (late Ronald) Sass and Darlene (Edwin) Karvelius; grandchildren, Brian (Becky) Sass, Elizabeth Sass, Julianna Karvelius, and Steven (Annabell Ren Dai) Karvelius; sister in-law, Hazel Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Henk, sister in-law, Ruth Bunge; brother in-law, Alfred Schultz; and son in-law, Ronald Sass.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 E. Belvidere Road, Belvidere, IL 61008. Please enter door 4 at the church for visitation. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Due to state guidelines, social distancing and facemasks required.
