Poplar Grove, ILIrene H. Dimond, 100, of Poplar Grove, IL died peacefully early Saturday morning, May 18, 2013 in Wesley Willows Health Center. Irene was born January 5, 1913 in Marengo, IL the daughter of Alvie and Elizabeth (Flynn) Hill. She married Leslie F. Dimond on June 6, 1935 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Irene started her teaching career in a one room school house in Warren, Illinois; she finished her teaching career after 46 years with Capron and Poplar Grove Elementary Schools. Irene graduated from Whitewater State University in Whitewater, Wisconsin, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Irene was a founding member of Poplar Grove United Methodist church where she was involved with the Ladies Aide Society. She was a member of the Illinois Education Association and the National Education Association. Irene was also an avid shuffle board player.Irene is loved and will be missed by her daughter Dianne (Philip) Poffenberger of Poplar Grove, Il; son Don L. Dimond of Williams Bay, WI; grandchildren Susan (Don) Koneval, Paula (Kurt) Broski, Betsy (Darrel) Cosgray, Donn (Renae) Dimond, Darrin Dimond, Nathan (Shelly) Dimond; great-grandchildren Emily Koneval, Madigan Koneval, Stella Cosgray, Danny Cosgray, Dylan Dimond, Anna Broski, Paige Broski, Philip Broski, Gage Broski, Zachery Dimond, Victoria Dimond. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Les and son Dennis.

Memorials can be given in care of North Boone Community United School District 200 in Irene's memory.
