Obituary

God received another angel, our beautiful mom, Irene Victoria (Jackson) Bridgeman-Schendel. She went home to be with God surrounded by her family on December 8, 2016 after a long illness. Irene was loved by so many and will be missed terribly. Born in Corning, Arkansas, and grew up in Cuba, Missouri. Irene met her first husband and father of her children, Walter Eugene Bridgeman in Missouri, they married in April of 1956 and had four beautiful daughters, Kathryn Jonas, Florence (Michael) Decker, Diana (Thomas) Pulcini, and Kimberly (Paul) Rabe. Walter passed away in 1980 due to cancer. She married her current husband, Roland Schendel in 1984, which gave Irene three step-children, Steve (Karen) Schendel, Patricia Patrick, and Christine (Brent) Brumfield. Irene was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 11 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Survived by her husband, four daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild, sister, Mary (Jackson) Adair of Rockford, IL, brother, Earnest Holland of Cuba, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband, Walter Bridgeman, parents, Lora (Emmons) Jackson, Williams Jackson, brothers, Noel Jones, Bud Jones, Judge Jones, William Jones, Ray Cavitt, Isaac Jackson, Howard Jackson, Robert Jackson, Jack Jackson, Chris Jackson, and sister, Susie (Jones) Vermes, and one step-grandson, Paul Schendel. Irene worked for the Moline Corporation in Belvidere for over 30+ years and when they closed their doors, she went to work for Rockford Tool Craft until her retirement. Irene loved crafting, shopping, traveling, and spending time with family. To sum up how she will be missed: Here is a poem regarding how she was loved: God made a wonderful mother, A mother who never grew old. He made her smile of the sunshine, and he molded her heart of pure gold. In her eyes, he placed bright shining stars, in her cheeks, fair roses you see. God made that wonderful mother, and he gave that dear mother to me. Love, Your Girls.
