Irene V. Boardman, 82, of Belvidere, IL died Thursday afternoon, December 28, 2006 in St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Irene was born July 13, 1924 in Pisgah, Alabama the daughter of George and Minnie (Moore) Elliott. She married LeRoy Boardman on August 15, 1945 in Ringold, Georgia. Irene retired from GTE in 1986 after 21 years of service. Irene was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church and was an active member of the Covenant Women. She enjoyed crafts, gardening and travel. Irene was a very devoted and loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Jim (Brenda) Boardman of Maricopa, AZ, Edna (Gary) Winans of Mahomet, IL; grandchildren, Marty Boardman, Kent Winans, Kristine Barrera, Curtis Boardman, Jennifer VanFleet; great grandchildren, Zachary, Isaac, Allyson, Audrey, Colton; brother, Donald (Sharon) Elliott of Belvidere; special friend, Bob Naveroski.Irene is predeceased by her parents, husband, LeRoy; son, Donald Boardman, grandson Scott Boardman; sisters Estella Wright, Beatrice Fee; brother, Jack Elliott.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established at Evangelical Covenant Church or to a charity of your choice.
