IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ingeborg “Inge”
Katharina Von Eyser
September 4, 1935 – December 1, 2025
Ingeborg "Inge" Katharina Von Eyser, 90, of Marengo, IL passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Huntley, IL. She was born on September 4, 1935, in Binsfeld/Eiffel Germany to Michael and Maria Kröschel.
Inge's life is an amazing love story that can be summed up in one word – courage. She spent the first ten years of her life running from WWII. She lost family, her home, and almost her life to a grenade thrown down the chimney of a house where they were hiding from bombs. Not your typical childhood.
Fast forward to the spring of 1958, she went on a blind date with Rudy Von Eyser, who was visiting family in Germany. Instead of staying 6 weeks, Rudy stayed for 6 months, and they married on September 10, 1958, in Leverkusen, West Germany. Rudy returned to Chicago and sent his entire savings so Inge can take a ship to New York and train to Chicago. She left her family and country to move over 4,000 miles away to start a life and family. Inge proudly received her Certificate of Naturalization to become a citizen of the United States in 1994.
Inge deeply loved her family and enjoyed many pleasures and hobbies throughout her life – traveling back to Germany, fishing trips to Wisconsin and Arkansas, rosemaling, pottery, gardening, watching baseball and soccer, and bowling.
Inge will be dearly missed by her four sons and family, Michael (Erica Creahan) Von Eyser, Rudy (Kelly Anne) Von Eyser, Karl (Kelly Louise) Von Eyser, and Kurt (Pettie) Von Eyser; her grandchildren, Brett (Alyssa Barrutia), Ava, Rudy (Aubrie), Jessica, Dustin, Katie, Will, and Nicole; her greatgrandchildren, Addison, Kolton, Clark, Lillian, Haley, Ryker, Aycen, and Juniper; her nephews, Bill Foss, Randy Fausher, Rudy Fausher, Louie Fausher, and Rusty Fausher; her nieces, Marion Kröschel, Vicki Swanson, Lynn Swanson, Carol Swanson Natalino, Diana Fausher, and Annaliese Schamerloh.
Inge was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Von Eyser, her parents, Michael and Maria Kröschel, her brother, Günter Kröschel, her sisters-in-law, Gertude Swanson, Marianne Fausher, and Annaliese Foss, and her brothers-in-law, Bob Swanson, Bob Fausher, and Harold Foss.
Inge will be laid to rest in Belvidere Cemetery next to her beloved Rudy. Services will be private to family.
