Obituary

Inez Lorraine Hoelzel affectionately known as Lorraine passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Lorraine was born February 9, 1929 the daughter of Homer and Inez (Radebaugh) Heller. Lorraine lived in the Capron, IL area, attended Capron High School until 1945 when her parents moved to the Belvidere area. She graduated from Belvidere High School in 1946. During her lifetime, Lorraine worked as a secretary at Sanitary Scale Company, the Marine Base at Camp Lejune, NC, Mid-West Pak in Belvidere, and Attorney E.A. Loop. Her final job at U.A.W. Local 1268 is where she retired after 20 years of service in 1989. Lorraine married the love of her life, Marvin Hoelzel on February 1, 1958 and became the mother of his two young children, Cheryl and Dennis. Marvin and Lorraine enjoyed their summer home at Lake Mills, WI as well as their Florida vacations. Lorraine enjoyed reading, traveling, listening to country music, loved attending the Boone County Fair and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. In her younger years she enjoyed playing her guitar and "jamming" with her friends. In her later years she enjoyed bus trips with her cousin and best friend, Ginny Tice and her dear friend and companion, Bill Thomas and their trips to northern Wisconsin and south Texas. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin in 1992; her friend, Bill Thomas in 2008; half-brother, Harry Marten in 2005. She is loved and missed by her loving children, Cheryl (Doug) Carlson of Belvidere, IL, Dennis (Penny) Hoelzel of Florida; grandson Blake (Kirstin) Hoelzel of Woodinville, WA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorraine was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW 1461. The American Legion Auxiliary and the Belvidere Moose Club. The service and celebration of Lorrain's life will take place in May 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of Lorraine's family to be dispersed to her favorite charities.
