Hulda "Alice" Swanson, 89, of Belvidere, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Emeritus Assisted Living Center. She was born on August 15, 1922 in Pike County, Indiana; the daughter of Clyde and Clara (Weeks) DeJarnatt. During the 1940's, Alice taught in a one-room school house. She then married Robert Swanson on August 3, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Belvidere. She taught second grade at Manchester School in the 1960's and then Perry School retiring in 1973. Alice is survived by her son, Robert E. (Lore) Swanson, of Crystal Lake, Illinois; daughter, Brenda (Gerald) Peck, of Belvidere, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Lyle) Severson, Richard (Lisa) Swanson, Holly (Chad) Wiese, Juli Peck, Bradley Swanson, William Peck; and great-grandchildren; brother, Landis DeJarnatt; sister, Ina Stockwell; sisters-in-law, Trudy Swanson and Shirley DeJarnatt; brother-in-law, Clarence Swanson; numerous nieces and nephews. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three daughters, Bonnie Louise, Jean Marie, and Julie Anne Swanson; and, four brothers, Dallas, Travis, Arlie and Carson DeJarnatt.
