Howard J. Sanford, 88, of Fulton, Missouri, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Landmark Hospital, Columbia Missouri. He was born July 21, 1922 in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of James and Alice (Heaney) Sanford. Howard married Kathryn Maroney in Sycamore, Illinois on January 8, 1949. They moved to Fulton in 1993, going there from Belvidere, Illinois. He was a service repairman for Hicks' Gas for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Howard was a veteran of WWII serving in the 3rd Armor Division under General Patton. He was a member of the V.F.W. Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post 1461. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering in the garage and repairing things. He is survived by three children, Mary Rojas, Jefferson City, MO; Bob (Theresa) Sanford, Belvidere, IL and Janet Sanford, Jefferson City, MO; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Anita; two great granddaughters, Kayla, age 4 and Kara, age 3. A brother, Melvin Sanford. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2005, a sister, Rachel Melton and three brothers, Lyle, Veryl, Dean Sanford.
