Hida Irene Meinheit,103, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, December 19, 2023, in Belvidere. She was born January 19, 1920 in Argyle, IL, daughter to Fred and Mary (Juehrs) Vowles. Hilda married her sweetheart, Ernest Meinheit on October 5, 1944 in Belvidere. Hilda received her GED in 1967, the year her son Ronald graduated from high school. She was a homemaker and attended Evangelical Covenant in Belvidere for many years. She taught Sunday School, volunteered for the church and was in their choir. Hilda loved to sew, vacations and spending time with family.

Hilda will be loved and missed by her sons, Ronald and David (Kara) Meinheit; grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Meinheit and Annette Meinheit; and multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; daughter in-law, Priscilla; siblings; and cousins.

Hilda's visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2023 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. The service will follow at the funeral home. Pastor Charles Townsend will officiate. Burial at Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Evangelical Covenant.
