Herman Sever Zick, 90, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away
peacefully Saturday, November 16,2019 in his home surrounded by his loving
family. Herman was born April 4, 1929 in Beloit, WI the son of Walter and Lena
(Johnson) Zick. He married his wife of 55 years, Helen Wells on August 17, 1951
in Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church. Helen preceded Herman in death on January
24, 2007. Herman served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He
was stationed in Alaska as a Radar Operator during the Korean War. Herman served
on the North Boone School District Board of Education, a member of the American
Legion in Clinton, WI, a clerk for Manchester township board and served on the
Jefferson Prairie Church Council. Herman loved working with his hands, farming,
fixing things and helping friends and family in his community. Herman loved sports
but most importantly he loved spending time with his family. He made his spiritual
home at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church.

He is loved and missed by his children, John (Jackie) Zick, Russ (Cyndi) Zick, Becky (Butch) Peters, Brenda (Chuck) Kastning; grandchildren, Brett (Brittney) Zick, Kyle (Brittni) Zick, Kristin Zick, Bethany (Bryan) Wilson, Jeff (Traci) Zick, Lindsey (Trevor) Olson, Scott (April) Kastning, Cindy Kastning, Brian (Samantha) Kastning, Mary (Dan) Parson; 20 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; dear friend, Dorothy Kleczewski; Nieces and nephews, Jude Hall, Ken (Barb) Hall and family as well as Tim (Kris) Hall and family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents; sister and brother- in- law, Marie (Ed) Hall and great-grandson, Michael Kastning.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November
24, 2019 at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, 23184 Bergen Rd, Poplar Grove,
IL 61065. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019
at the church with Rev. Linda Winkelman officiating. A visitation will take
place from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial in Jefferson Prairie Cemetery.
