Herbert Alan Walberg, 78, of Garden Prairie, IL died peacefully June 11, 2021, in Belvidere, IL. He was born February 17, 1943, in Belvidere, son to Edwin and Elma Jane (Swezey) Walberg. Herb married his high school sweetheart, Joy Sue Charlesworth July 17, 1965, in Belvidere. He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and did his apprenticeship with Buck-Wheeler-Hyland in Belvidere. Herb was a farmer and proceeded to build, own and operate Sharon Interstate Grain in Sharon, Wisconsin. He was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Belvidere, and a Free Mason and Shriner. He was a member of Rockford Model T Ford Club and a Trustee on the Bonus Township Board serving as supervisor for forty plus years. Herb loved to travel in the winters to Florida with his family. He travelled Europe, Asia, Africa and numerous other places in the world. He was involved with the Boone County Fair and never missed it!

Herb is loved and will be missed by his wife, Joy; son, Todd (Diana) Walberg; daughter, Quinn (Wayne) Luckey; brother, Robert (Madeline) Walberg; granddaughters, Reilly Walberg and Ashlyn Luckey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin and mother, Elma; father-in-law, Robert Charlesworth; and mother in-law, Evelyn Charlesworth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 West Hurlbut, Belvidere, Illinois 61008. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the funeral home.  Burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
