Rockford, IllinoisHelen Eileen Peters Van Laningham Bunk, 80 of Rockford, IL died peacefully, Saturday morning, March 22, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center with her family at her side. Helen was born June 25, 1927 in Genoa, IL the daughter of Ralph and Etta (Hyland) Peters. After her mother's sudden death, Helen was raised by her father and stepmother Myrtle Wych Peters. She married Richard Van Laningham on March 29, 1947 in Belvidere; following his death she married Donald R. Bunk on December 3, 1988 in Rockford. Prior to retiring, Helen worked for St. Anthony Medical Center as a monitor tech; was a self employed beautician and loving homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Belvidere. She enjoyed baking and crafts; but her family was the most important part of her life. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family. One of her most favorite memories was celebrating her 80th birthday with her family this past June. She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Dennis (Dianne) Van Laningham of Manitowoc, WI, Kathy Corradini of Lake In The Hills, IL, Rodney (Vonne) Van Laningham of Arlington, WA, Lori (Douglas) Sauter of Wauwatosa, WI; step children, Christine (Pat) Montgomery, Stephen (Cindy) Bunk, Thomas (Brenda) Bunk, Laura (Tom) Maxwell all of Monroe Center; brother, Harold Peters of Marengo; sisters, Jean Peters of Belvidere and Mary Olson of Colorado. 9 grandchildren Erin (Edward) Obermueller, Erik (Evelyne) Van Laningham, Jason (Kristin) Corradini, Jamie Corradini, Damien Van Laningham, Dana Van Laningham, Blake Shaffer, Alison Sauter, Ellen Sauter, 11 step grandchildren, Jaime (Jay) Williams, Jeff Montgomery, Jay Montgomery, Elle Bunk, Alex Bunk, Andy Bunk, Ian Bunk, Keegan Maxwell, Schae Maxwell, Dolan Maxwell, Nevin Maxwell; 5 great grandchildren, Aidan Obermueller, Soren Obermueller, Wyatt Van Laningham, Jace Williams, Keyara Montgomery.Helen is predeceased by her parents, brother, Ralph Peters, Jr.; and son in-law, Kenneth Corradini.

A memorial will be established with Immanuel Lutheran in Helen's memory.
