Obituary

Helen Mae Schwedersky, 100, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Belvidere, IL, passed away on December 8, 2023. She was born on August 16, 1923, in Belvidere. The daughter of Ella J. (Mallet) and Earl W. Luce.


On June 13, 1942 she married the love of her life, Harold Schwedersky, and together they shared 4 children and 61 years in marriage. The couple enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. They were long time members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Helen was a member of the garden club, and enjoyed playing cards with the girls.


She worked for many years at Parson Casket Hardware as an assembler, from which she retired in 1982. Helen was deeply devoted to her faith and her family. She will be missed by many.


Survived by Dona Schwedersky; Susan (Mark) Inman, Connie (Jack) Capitani, Sandra (Jerry) Carlson; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom she loved dearly.


She is welcomed into heaven by her husband, Harold, their son, James Schwedersky; her parents Ella and Earl Luce, as well as her sisters, Dorothy Terral, Mildred Sims, and Coralyn Ohlsen.


Helen's visitation will be Thursday, December 14, at 10am at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Located at 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service to follow at 11am. Burial will be at Highland Garden of Memories.
