Helen Sue Millikin, 75, passed away on January 18, 2022 at home in Rockford, IL after a brief bout with cancer. Helen was born on August 1, 1946, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Edwin H. Hoffhaus and Lucille F. Kerr Hoffhaus. She graduated from Hillsboro (IN) High School in 1964 and was a graduate of Indiana University with a major in Elementary Education. She received a Master's of Science in Education from Indiana University in South Bend, IN. She briefly taught at the elementary level and later was the director of the preschool at First Presbyterian Church in Rockford.
Helen married James R. Millikin in Hillsboro, IN on August 11, 1968. The marriage was blessed with three daughters: Catherine Sue (Brendon) Ishikawa, Jennifer Ann (Eric) Osar and Caroline Elizabeth (Keith) Euker. She is survived by her husband; daughters; and grandchildren, Eli and Mira Ishikawa, Sadie and Bear Euker; and step-granddaughters, Arianna and Rebecca Osar.
Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church and later Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford. While a member of the churches she served as a Deacon, played handbells, played the piano at early service and taught Sunday School as well as volunteering in several capacities. She was also a member of the Rockford Woman's Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A memorial visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 14th, 2022, at Westminster Church, 2821 N Bell School Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Pastor Gretchen Hammeke is officiating. A lunch to follow.The inurnment will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Bridgeton IN, at Clear Run Cemetery.
