Cherry Valley, ILHelen Knox, 91, of Cherry Valley, IL died peacefully Thursday morning December 8, 2011, surrounded by her family in Peterson Meadows Retirement Community. Helen lived most of her life in Belvidere and Cherry Valley. She was the daughter of Clarence and Louise (Jones) Darmon. She attended Northern Illinois University. Helen married Vincent T. Knox on June 10, 1944 in Belvidere. She worked for Second National Bank of Belvidere and then lovingly raised her family. Helen was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild of the church. She belonged to the Daughters of the Nile – Alabet Temple where she was a member of the drill team. Helen was also a member of the Eastern Star, Belvidere Women's Club, Avery Club, Northern Illinois Airstream Club; and was a pink lady at Highland Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, family gatherings and playing bridge.Helen is loved and will be missed by her children Gregg (Renee) Knox of Belvidere, Jack (Janice) Knox of Rockford, Kristine (Jim Van Heule) Knox of Grand Haven, MI, Jill (Jon) Farrey of Belvidere; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Pat Knox of Vero Beach, FL. Helen is predeceased by her parents, husband Vincent in 1995; brother in-law Wendell Knox and sister in-law Joan Ronk.The family acknowledges the Northern Illinois Hospice, Intouch care givers and especially Peterson Meadows staff and residents for the love and care given to Helen.
