Helen M. Howland, 82, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, March 11, 2018 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness.  Helen was born December 24, 1935 in Belvidere, the daughter of John and Lylas (Morehead) Wilson, and grew up on the family farm in Irene before marring Harold S. Howland who preceded her in death.  Over the years Helen owned and operated, along with her husband, Garden Prairie Feed Mill from 1976 through 1991.  She was also a C.N.A working in the health care field for more than 30 years.  Helen was also a devoted loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and care giver to her family.  She made her spiritual home at Open Bible Church.  She was an active member, and unofficial historian, of Open Bible Church for over 50 years. Helen enjoyed watching her grandkids in their sporting events; and she had a very giving heart, supporting numerous charities.

Helen is loved and will be missed by her children, Sherry (Richard) Canciamille, James (Donna) Howland; daughter in-law, Sondra Howland Paul; grandchildren, Tony Canciamille, Andy Canciamille, Jeremiah Howland, Aaron Howland, Kelly Howland and Nick Howland; great-grandchildren, Everly, Brea and Leah.  Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Mike, Thomas and Jerry; sisters, Romona Ward, Norma Jean Wilson, Hazel Smith and brother, John Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008 with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Pope of Open Bible Church officiating, at the funeral home.  Burial in Flora Cemetery.  Memorials can be given n care of Open Bible Church, 8567 Town Hall Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008.
