Hazel E. Howe, 94, of Belvidere, died Monday, December 31, 2012 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born May 31, 1918 in Boone County; daughter of Peter and Minnie (Johnson) Johnson. Married Clarence J. Howe on May 22, 1937 in Rockford. He died October 26, 1988. Hazel was a lifetime dairy farmer with her husband. Member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching TV, especially Wheel of Fortune and baseball. She had a passion for animals and enjoyed being out in Mother Nature. Survivors include her great-nephews Doug (Lynne) DuPont of Caledonia, Bill Johnson of Minnesota; niece Nancy Wujek of Indiana; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband Clarence, brothers Elmer, Emil, and Leonard Johnson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
