Obituary

Harry D. Papka, 92, of Rockford, passed away, Monday afternoon, January 16, 2017 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born May 7, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN, son of Floyd and Beatrice (Carter) Papka. He married the love of his life, Lila Ulrich on August 15, 1943. Harry was a farmer for 40 years in DeKalb County. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa, IL. Harry was a member of the Belvidere Moose Club. He was an avid card player, gardener, enjoyed bowling and fishing, and loved to travel.

Harry is loved and missed by his daughters, Marge (Paul) Buzzell of Belvidere and Cathy (Harvey) Buckley of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren, Brigitte (Jeff) Mickey, Lonn (Krista) Buzzell, Ryan (Kim) Buckley, Craig Buckley, and Elyse (Marc) Bianchi; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Hope Mickey, Braelyn, Brant and Brooks Buckley; brother, Melvin (Kay) Papka, and his sister-in-law, Judy Papka. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila, parents, sister, Shirley Gleason, and brother, Gene Papka.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 North State Road, Genoa, IL, 61035. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool, Keenage Center or Northern IL Hospice.
