Harry A. Johnson, 89, of Rockford died Tuesday April 25, 2006 at Fairhaven Christian Home. He was born December 30, 1916 in Wheaton, Illinois the son of Teodor and Mathilda (Peterson) Johnson. He graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1934 and Coyne Electric in 1941. He married Florence Richardson on June 15, 1940 in Belvidere, she predeceased him. He later married Marguerite (Reece) Rolig on April 25, 1992 in Rockford. He worked as a production engineer at Woodward Governor for 40 years until his retirement in 1982, there he belonged to the 25 Year Club and enjoyed his time with the Woodward Retirees Breakfast Club. He was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church in Rockford. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing bridge with friends in some of the local bridge clubs, gardening and in his day was a member of the Belvidere Men's Garden Club. He especially enjoyed woodworking and remodeling "fixer upper" houses with his son.He is survived by his wife Marguerite of Rockford, daughter Nancy (Thomas) Strain of Rockford, son Richard (Kathleen) Johnson of York, PA., 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Minna "Pep" McCormick of Sun City, AZ. He is predeceased by parents, 1st wife Florence, and brother Ted Johnson.The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Fairhaven Christian Home for their care and attention to Harry.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Theater Dept. of Lutheran High School in Rockford.
