IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold Jesse
Walker
January 30, 1946 – June 29, 2024
Harold Jesse Walker, 78, of Belvidere, IL, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Born on January 30, 1946, to Ruth "Bonnie" (Seay) and Porter Bradford Walker. Harold was raised in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. On August 24, 1968, he married the love of his life, Judy (Berg). Together they shared 3 children and 55 years of marriage.
Harold loved fishing. He bragged about catching the first, the biggest, and the most fish. Above all, Harold enjoyed quality time with those he loved. He was a dedicated father to his children and a loving husband. Harold would never miss a game that his children participated in, and never failed to let Judy know how much he loved her. He loved to take his grandchildren on tractor rides. He especially enjoyed playing card games like Chase the Ace, Spades, poker, and Rook. His kids liked to let him think he was the best at Dominos, bags, and horseshoes.
His garden was his pride and joy. His green thumb was legendary among those who knew him best. Harold cultivated vibrant gardens that bloomed with the seasons, nurturing each plant with the same care and tenderness he showed to his loved ones. The fruits of his labor were not just in the bounty of vegetables and flowers but in the joy he brought to others through sharing his harvest and knowledge.
Harold had a strong work ethic and took great pride in quality work. His yard was always immaculate and he could fix almost anything. For many years he worked for IMC (formerly PAG-Belvidere Fertilizer) supporting the local farmers in the area. He attended Bible Baptist Church and was a man of strong faith.
Country music provided the soundtrack to his life's journey, a constant companion in both joyful moments and quiet reflections. The melodies he cherished spoke to his soul, resonating with the values of family, faith, and the simple pleasures of everyday life that he held dear.
He will be remembered for his ingenuity (making something out of nothing), creativity, generosity and pure stubbornness at times, also, his infectious laugh, kind heart, and dedication to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Walker; their children, Jamie (Jennifer) Walker, Kandy (George) Barr, Tonya (Joe) Montes; his brother, Jimmy (Helene) Walker; grandchildren, Tristen, Jessica, Andrew, Georgie, Miguel, Kaiya, Aiden, and Jacqueline; great grandchildren, Hunter, Everly, and Orson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members he loved dearly.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Ruth "Bonnie" and Porter Walker; sister, Marie; and brothers Earl, JB, and Roy Lee.
Harold's visitation will be on Monday, July 8th at 11am at Anderson Funeral Home Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service to follow at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to establish a memorial park bench in honor of Harold.
