Obituary

Harold George Kolthoff, 93, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, and went to be with the Lord. He was born on February 13, 1931, in Pecatonica, Illinois, the son of Clara (Leisher) and Benjamin Kolthoff. Harold was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who cherished his family and his faith.

In 1955, Harold married the love of his life, Louise, in Monroe Center, Illinois. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. Harold's dedication to his family was unwavering, and his legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A man of strong work ethic, Harold held various jobs during his youth and spent 30 years employed at Twin Disc in Rockford before retiring. In his spare time, Harold enjoyed singing and composing music. His passion for horses led him to show horses, and he later became a judge at horse shows. He also loved restoring his 1973 Mach I Mustang and spent many hours working on cars with his son, Harlan.

Harold was a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere. He served as a deacon, usher, elder, and greeter for several years, and he was active in various Bible studies and church organizations. His commitment to his church family and his Lord was a central part of his life.

In addition to his love for family and faith, Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1954.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Louise Kolthoff; daughters, Barbara (Patrick Hogan) Kolthoff and Sandra (James) Dollman; daughter-in-law, Carol Kolthoff; grandchildren, Daniel (Liz) Kolthoff, Lisa Havens, Jason (Jennee) Kolthoff, Steven Dollman, Jacob (Miranda) Dollman, and Alex Dollman; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn (Aaron), Max, Van, Eric, Nathan, Madelynn, Abigail, Lucas, Korbyn, and Aeryonna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Benjamin Kolthoff; sons, Curtis and Harlan Kolthoff; brothers, James, William, and Clarence Kolthoff; and sister, Ethel Boyer.
