Harold N. Herried, 93, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021 in Rochester, MN. He was born on October 10, 1927 in Viroqua, WI to Andrew and Stella (Lem) Herried. Harold married the love of his life, Ethel Kimbrell, on November 15, 1952 at Temple Baptist Church in Rockford, IL. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the Korean War. Harold attended the University of Illinois and later attended Rockford College for his master's degree in education. He worked as a schoolteacher for a number of years in Belvidere and Rockford schools. Harold found his spiritual home at Temple Baptist Church, now Crosspoint Church, and was a faithful member for many years. Harold loved watching old movies, collecting sheet music, and going to garage sales. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold will be missed by all those who knew him.
Harold is loved and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Amy (Jerry) Scott and Andrea (Tim) Bridwell; his 3 grandchildren, Josh (Sheena) Scott, Emily (Steve) Garcia, and Clara Bridwell; his 4 great-grandchildren, Daylyn and Ryder Scott and Lilly and Everly Garcia; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel; and his siblings.
A walk-through visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. The funeral ceremony will be private. Burial with military honors will be at Highland Garden of Memories. Memorial contributions in Harold's name may be gifted to Temple Baptist Church, 3215 E.
