Belvidere, IllinoisHarold M. Hammond, 77, of Belvidere, IL and formerly of Mountain View, MO. died Saturday evening, February 21, 2009 in his home after a lingering illness. Harold was born November 12, 1931 in Belvidere, IL the son of Glyndon and Emma (Humbracht) Hammond. Harold married Joan C. Crawford on September 29, 1953 she predeceased him November 11, 1997. He then married Patricia Oaks on May 18, 2000. .Harold worked for Automatic Electric in Genoa before his retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean War and an Ex-Army POW. Harold was deeply involved with the American Legion, V.F.W., D.A.V., AMVETS, Military Order of the COOTIE, 40/8, Sadsacks, 24th Infantry Division, Korean War Veterans Association.He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Dawn Hammond, Mark Hammond, James Hammond, Ivan (Patti) Hammond, Harold Hammond II, Anita (David) Neff; two step children, K.C. Oaks, Kelly (Chad) Roellich; brothers, Glyndon Hammond, Gordon (Pat) Hammond; sisters, Ethel Lee and Patsy Feltz; 22 grandchildren, 3 Step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.Harold is predeceased by his parents, first wife, Joan; brothers, Bill, LeRoy and Ronald.
