Harold E. "Hal" Winter 62, of Garden Prairie, Ill, died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center from injuries sustained in a Pedestrian – Motor Vehicle accident. Born July 20, 1943 in Rockford, Ill. to Marie (Daniels) Behnke. Lived several years in Garden Prairie, coming here from Sycamore. Employed in the Construction trade for more than 45 years as a General Contractor and most recently for Seal Rite Door Co. for 1-1/2 years. A veteran of the Army serving from 1965 to 1967. Hal was a past officer for the Jaycees. In his spare time, he enjoyed, woodworking, fishing, camping, bowling, boating, and the outdoors in general. When he was younger, he grew up on the farm and enjoyed playing sports in his free time. He graduated from Belvidere High School. He is survived by his mother, Marie Behnke, Belvidere; daughter, Melissa (Todd) Turner, Sycamore; Son, Matthew (Anne) Winter, Budapest, Hungary; 5 grandchildren, Sarie and Jake Turner, Sycamore; Trevor, Maegan and Zachary Winter, Hungary; 2 brothers, Darryl Winter, Kankakee; Rich (Sandy) Behnke, Caledonia; sister, Jean (Marion) Thornberry, Belvidere; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Ellen Daniels and stepfather, Raymond Behnke.
