Guy John McGee, 67, of Rockford and formerly of Belvidere, IL passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 4, 2008 in the emergency room of Swedish American Hospital-Rockford, after a sudden illness. Guy was born February 14, 1941 in Cherry Valley, Illinois the son of Oliver Horatio "Ray" and Avis Ida (Fox) McGee. He was a life long area resident and was a grocer working for Eagle Supermarket in Belvidere for 46 years. Guy began his employment at age of 16 and was known for his dedication and excellent work ethic. He married Edith "Edie" Salisbury in Belvidere on July 7, 1992 and was always a true gentleman to her and everyone he met. He was a devoted member of Evangelical Convanent Church where he served as a greeter. He enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and had a great sense of humor. Guy liked to read about herbal medicine, taking care of his yard and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Guy was also best grandpa to all his grandchildren and was very attentive to the needs of his family.He is survived by his wife, Edie of Rockford; children, Daniel Guy McGee of Madison, WI, Kelly Marie (John) Allen of Dixon, IL; granddaughter, Sarah Joy Allen of Dixon; step granddaughters, Cheri Heise of Polo, IL, Samantha Allen of Amboy, IL, Rebecca Allen of Dixon, IL; Step-Great-grandchildren, Emily Marie Allen of Adeline, IL, MacKenzie Ruth Johnson of Amboy, IL; siblings, Louise (Myron) Howard of Belvidere, George McGee of Belvidere, Bev Crowell of Chandler, AZ; many nieces and nephews. Guy is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Floyd McGee, Warren "Mack" McGee; sister, Dorothy Leupkes.
