Gregory Montgomery, 61, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 27, 2008 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Born August 7, 1947 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of Thelma and Robert Montgomery. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in Kirkland, Ill. He served in the army and was a Vietnam Vet. Greg worked at N.I.U. in DeKalb for the last 26 years in the grounds department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2910, the Elks Club Lodge 765 and the V.F.W. all in DeKalb. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his friends. He also spent a lot of time with his family. He married Shirley McClenthen in 1969 and had two girls, Angela (fiance' Brian Bruce) Montgomery and Amy (Rex) Smith. In addition to his two daughters, he is survived by seven grandchildren, Travis, Colton and Skyler Young, and Alexandria and Bryan Lischka; Rylee and Preston Smith; three sisters, Barbara Parisot, Joan (Dwayne) Judkins and Lynn (Cal) Clinkenbeard. Greg was predeceased by his parents, and brother James Montgomery.
