Gregory B. Hansen, 60, of Cherry Valley, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Northwoods Care Centre following a lengthy illness. He was born September 21, 1947, in Morrison, Illinois, the son of Burton and Vera Franks Hansen and lived most of his adult life in the Cherry Valley and Belvidere area. Greg married Joan E. Larson in Somonauk, Illinois, October 27, 1973. He was a retired quality control engineer for Chrysler Corp. A U.S. Army veteran of Viet Nam, Greg was a member of Belvidere Post #1461 VFW and a past commander of American Legion Boone Post #77. He also had coached Rockford Park District Youth Baseball several seasons. Greg held an associates degree from Rock Valley College.Survivors include his wife Joan; mother Vera Hansen, Belvidere; son Ryan P. Hansen, Cherry Valley; and brother Gordon Hansen, Belvidere. He was preceded in death by his father, Burton.
