Gregory Gordon West, 69, of Belvidere, IL passed away on March 9, 2023. Born on February 2, 1954 to Gordon and Elma West, in Beloit, WI. Greg graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1972 where he is best remembered for his exceptional basketball career, winning many trophies as a center. His college education began at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on a basketball scholarship. Afterward, his pharmaceutical studies continued at the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus. Greg worked for over 40 years as a Pharmacist at OSF Saint Anthony as well as the oncology department. On June 12, 2007 Greg married the love of his life, Brenda. Greg and Brenda enjoyed traveling and yearly vacations to warmer locations together. He also enjoyed boating and playing golf. Deeply dedicated to his friends and family, his devotion to family is apparent in the years he spent taking care of his parents as they aged. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his main focus after his retirement. He will be missed by many.

Greg is survived by his wife, Brenda West; children, Keegan (Alicia) West, Nicole (Freddie) Reyes; grandchildren, Lake West, Alyssa Reyes, Addison Reyes; sisters, Carol Julian, Connie (Marv) Zimmermann; Mother-in-law Pat Johnson, Brother-in-law; Todd (Cindy) Huebner, Sisters-in-law; Cyndy (John) Lane and Vicki (Rob) Holcom, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.

He is predeceased in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Greg will be Monday, March 27th at 11am at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. A fellowship celebration of life to follow at approximately 12:30pm at the SM&SF Club, located at 1010 Sandy Hollow Rd, Rockford, IL 61109.
