Gordon W. Taylor, 91, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, Monday, March 22, 2021 in Maple Crest Care Centre in Belvidere. He was born September 4th, 1929, in Birmingham, England to William and Elizabeth (Barge) Taylor. Gordon was raised in England, where he enjoyed fly fishing and the time he spent in the Army travelling around Africa. He married his sweetheart, the late Doreen Taylor, September 4, 1954 in Birmingham , England. Doreen passed away in 2009. In 1968, he was offered a job in New York City and the whole family moved to the U.S. Eventually, Gordon and his family settled in Belvidere. Gordon was a Journeyman Electrician at Chrysler and a retired UAW member. He continued to enjoy fishing and travelling, especially to the national parks out west.Gordon is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Pam Taylor of Sumner, WA; son, Graham ( Wendy) Taylor of Anaheim, CA; four grandchildren, Audrey , Elizabeth, James and Mandy; and great-grandchildren, Brixton, Hollis, Ricky and Savannah.He is preceded in death by wife, Doreen; and son, Kenneth; and brothers, Cliff and Graham.A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 7 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. Rev. Pamela Lojewski will officiate. Social distancing and masks required. Memorial contributions can be given in care of the family.
