Gordon R. Rubeck, 87, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025.
He was born on September 29, 1937, in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Groves) Rubeck. A lifelong resident of Belvidere, Gordon graduated from Belvidere High School and was later drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country.
Gordon was known for his strong work ethic and spent many dedicated years working at Dean Foods Inc.
On August 18, 1962, Gordon married the love of his life, Sandra Mae (Daniels), at Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Together, they shared 62 loving years of marriage and raised two sons.
Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a loyal friend. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity, and deep love for his family.
A man of many interests, Gordon enjoyed fur trapping, antique collecting, woodworking, and antique restoration. He was also a gifted gardener with a green thumb.
He was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Illinois Trapper Association, Fur Takers of America Chapter 17I, the Dairy Union Local 754, the Midwest Tool Collectors Association, the Graniteware Collectors Society, and the Pioneers Club at Zion Lutheran Church.
Gordon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Greg (Suzy) Rubeck and Brian (Judi) Rubeck; grandchildren, Sara (Connor) Rubeck-Doyle, Bryce Rubeck, and Elizabeth Rubeck; sister, Shirley (Russell) VanDusen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members he loved dearly.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Elmer and Elsie Rubeck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Rubeck, and Joe and Elaine Rubeck.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the nursing staff at Ascension Living Saint Anne Place, OSF Hospice, and special thanks to nurse Julie.
Gordon's visitation will be Tuesday, June 17th at 1pm at Zion Lutheran Church. Located at 1300 Pearl St, Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service to follow at 2pm with Burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
