Poplar Grove, ILGordon J. "Gordy" Downs, 74, of Poplar Grove, IL died peacefully early Saturday morning, February 2, 2013 in his home after a sudden illness. Gordon was born December 15, 1938 in Belvidere, IL the son of William "Bill" and Helen (Andrews) Downs. He married Dorothy M. Goodall on February 13, 1960 in Belvidere. Gordon worked for Arnold Engineering in Marengo, IL retiring after 38 years of service. Gordon loved woodworking; camping and fishing in Spooner and Hayward, WI, Motorcycle riding and NASCAR. He was an avid "Packer Backer" and loved his grandkids, great grandkids and kids like none other. Gordon was a member of Blaine United Methodist Church.Gordon is loved and will be missed by his wife Dorothy; children Michael J. (Robin) Downs of Caledonia, Kaylene (LeRoy) Blackburn of Belvidere, Kimberly (Michael) Janeway of Belvidere; grandkids Anthony, Angela, Andrew, Ashley, Bradley, Rachel, Katarina, Makayla; seven Great-Grandkids and one on the way.; special family friend Jane Blackburn Gordon is predeceased by his parents; brother Lawrence Downs; sister DeAnn Downs.
