Poplar Grove, IL

Gloria A. Bednar, 86, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in her home after a long illness. She was born October 26, 1931 in Olga, ND, the daughter of Ovila and Malvina (Chaput) Charbonneau. Gloria married the love of her life, John Bednar on July 29, 1950 in Chicago, IL. She retired from Rex Electric in Villa Park. Gloria made her spiritual home at Saint James Church in Belvidere, and was a prior member of Saint Domitilla's in Hillside. Gloria was a part of the Flames Club of Candlewick Lake, where she helped as secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, and gardening. Most of all, she loved her family and family gatherings.

Gloria is loved and missed by her loving husband of 67 years, John; children, Mark (Athlyne) Bednar, Keith (Jill) Bednar, Susan (John) Anderson, and Troy Bednar; grandchildren, Mike Bednar, David Bednar, and Carolyne Crawford; great-grandchildren, Noah, Silas, Jonathan, and Lucy; siblings, Larry, Donald and Theresa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Danny and Lorraine.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Gloria's caregivers, Shirley, GiGi, and Vicki for their loving and compassionate care of Gloria and John.

A memorial gathering will take place in the spring.
