Obituary

Glenys D. Fenner, 85, of Rockford, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in Swedish-American Hospital following a short illness. Born July 2, 1922 in Sterling, Ill., the daughter of Lawrence and Etha (Scanlan) Cullen. She has lived in Rockford since 1954, coming here from Sterling. Glenys married Lawrence A. Fenner in Sterling, Ill. on May 19, 1946. She worked in the Credit Department of Goldblatts for 25 years before retiring. Glenys was a 54 year member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Evening Circle, the Valpo Guild, the Lutheran Layman's League. She also belonged to Forest City Squares and the Senoir Activity Center. Her hobbies included ceramics, baking and entertaining guests. Glenys is a graduate of Sterling Township High School, Class of 1940. She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Rockford; two daughters, Susan Lindquist, Cherry Valley, Ill.; Sandra (Ron) Bakkelund, Rockford; five grandchildren, Monica Lindquist, Loves Park, Ill.; Melissa (fianceé Ed Gattoc) Lindquist, Euless, Tex.; Holly (Dan) Reilly, Machesney Park, Ill.; Sarah Bakkelund, Jensen Beach, Fla.; Chad Bakkelund, Rockford, Ill. one great-grandchild, Landon Reilly; several nieces and nephews. Preceded by parents, two sisters, Doris Zbinden and Roberta Eaton and son-in-law, Forrester Lindquist.
