Obituary

Glenna Parks, 85, passed away August 2, 2023 surrounded by her family after a courageous sixteen year battle against cancer. Glenna never gave up the fight until the very end. She was born January 23, 1938 in Mohawk, TN to Willie J. (Boat) and Ruby Aletha (Walton) Douthat. Glenna enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers, as well as buying and wearing graphic tees, especially ones for breast cancer survivors. Glenna (GiGi) was admired for her love of family and friends, strong work ethic, and will for life. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Glenna was loved and will be missed by her sons, Darrell (Linda) Johnson and Daniel Parks; Daughter, Maurita (Rollie) Thompson; grandchildren, Sabrina (Robert) Weimerskirk, Michael Moyer, Brantley Thompson, Amy (Tom) Bunting, Amber (Keith) Romanek, James Moyer, Jennifer (Garrett) Simons, and Levi Parks; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren,; sister, Margie (John) Slater; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Douthat and Lynn Douthat; and many nieces and nephews.

She is welcomed home by her daughter, Janice Lynn Parks; parents W.J. and Ruby Douthat; stepmother, Earnestine Douthat; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reece and JoAnn Douthat, J.P. and Imogene Douthat, Samuel Douthat, Bill and Barb Douthat, and Richard Douthat; grandson, Jonathan White; and great-grandson, Lukas Cassioppi.

Per Glenna's wishes, a graveside service will be held at Flora Cemetery, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Korkmaz and his staff at OSF center for cancer care, the staff at Maple Crest, and the staff of OSF Hospice, especially Gina and Kim.
