Obituary

Glenn A. "Andy" Hermanson, 78, of Belvidere, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a short illness. He was born December 3, 1929 in Capron, Ill., the son of Alfred and Anna (Austad) Hermanson. He grew up in North Dakota before returning to Capron. He married Graciela Quintal in Capron on January 10, 1953. She died in 1973. He then married Myrtle Hollister in Herbert, Ill. on November 30, 1974. Glenn was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Illinois Tollway for 31 years before retiring. A Veteran of the Navy, he served his country from 1948 to 1952. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs play. He also supported the Bears. He loved animals, fishing, hunting gardening and fixing lawn mowers. He was an avid collector of Louis L'Amore Western Novels. Glenn graduated from Capron High School. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Belvidere; four daughters, Grace Ann (Steve) Kluson, Poplar Grove, Ill.; Vickie (Scott) Morrow and Rhonda Jones, both of Rockford, Brenda Boynton, Freeport, Ill.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary, Jim, Valerie and Rusty; five great grandchildren, Sommara, Morissa, Julia, Gavin and Hayden; two sisters, Bea (Loren) Ellis and Bev (Les) Ellis; a brother, Gail Hermanson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Kimmey Walter.
