Glenda L. May, 69, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Swedish American Hospital in Belvidere. Glenda was born February 19, 1946 in Kingsville, Texas, daughter of Glenn and Rose Opal (Schultz) Cook. She married Dean May on March 16, 1974 in Kingsville, TX. Glenda was passionate about learning. She graduated with a major in English from Texas A & M, a Master's in psychology from Texas A & M, and an "ABD" from the University of North Dakota. Glenda taught Junior High at the beginning of her career. She also taught college courses at the University of North Dakota. She was proud to be the Education Coordinator at First United Methodist in Woodstock, IL. Glenda was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed writing the newsletter for the Poplar Grove Wings and Wheels Museum and EAA 1414. Glenda was an avid reader and a world traveler, especially to her condo in Kauai, Hawaii. Her greatest passions were her grandchildren, they were her life. Glenda was a member of the EAA Chapter in Poplar Grove.

Glenda is loved and will be missed by her husband, Dean; children, Ann (Matthew) Szajkovics, Christopher (Sarah) May, Rebecca (Ethan) Sherry, Cynthia (Andrew) Vanderstappen; grandchildren, Justin, Collin, and Lillian Szajkovics, Ava May, Caden and Evalaine Sherry, Emma, Stefani, and Audrey Vanderstappen; special cousin, Janet Bailey. She is preceded in death by her parents, and cousin, Sandra Ford.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in Glenda's name.
