"A good friend to all"83, of Belvidere died Saturday September 3, 2005 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born May 12, 1922 in Belvidere, the son of Stanley and Margaret (Neff) Carpenter. On November 22, 1944 he married Lorraine Jordan in Belvidere. He was a self employed blacksmith. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine, daughters; Karen (Charles) Rubert of Rockford, Vickie Hyde of Phoenix, AZ., son; Glen (Jane) Carpenter of Center Barnstead, NH., 5 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters; Betty Burke of Genoa, Dorothy Nelson of Rockford, Helen (Wilton) Esmond of Stoughton, WI., brother; Robert (Beverly) Carpenter of Belvidere, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and a grandson.
