Gladys E. Vangeisen, 93, of Belvidere, died peacefully Monday, May 26, 2014 at Maplecrest Care Centre in Belvidere. She was born on June 22, 1920 in Woodstock, IL, daughter of George P. and Emma B. (Scott) Toomey. Gladys attended school at Saint James School in Belvidere. She married Leo R. Vangeisen on June 7th, 1948. She was a homemaker that loved spending time with her family. Gladys enjoyed boating and going to the lake with her husband. Later in life, she enjoyed going to the VFW with friends. Family was very important to her, and she took a lot of pride in the fact that she was here to watch her grandchildren become adults; they will always have a memory of "Grandma Gladys."

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; brother, George Toomey.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2014 with Rev. Allan Buss officiating at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 West Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service.
