IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald "Jerry"
Leland Carter
December 10, 1970 – November 24, 2025
Gerald "Jerry" Leland Carter, 54, of Capron, IL, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2025. He was born December 10, 1970, in Davenport, Iowa, to LaVon (Krueger) and Wayne Carter.
Jerry graduated from Davenport North High School and built his life on hard work and determination. He spent his early years in construction, landscaping, and roofing before starting a 30-year career with EHC Global USA. Beginning in production, he proved himself through dedication and hard work, eventually becoming a certified escalator handrail splicing technician in 2002. His work took him across Europe, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Alaska, and many states throughout the U.S. He was a proud member of IUEC Local 2 out of Chicago.
On June 1, 2002, Jerry married the love of his life, Lora. Together they shared 23 years of marriage and raised two children who were the center of his world. Jerry was a strong, steady, and devoted family man. He was a hands on father who made quality time with his kids a priority.
He enjoyed teaching his son mechanical skills, working side by side on cars and rental properties. He was always in the stands cheering his children on at their sporting events, and he was especially proud of his daughter's softball career. Jerry also enjoyed their frequent daddy daughter dates.
What began as his first rental property in 1996 grew into 21 homes and a family business. Jerry built a legacy meant to support his family long into the future, a testament to his commitment and drive.
Jerry enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and collecting muscle cars. Especially his prized '81 Camaro, which he restored with his father. It was a project that reflected his pride, craftsmanship, and bond with family.
Jerry will be remembered as a hardworking provider, a loyal husband, a proud father, and a man who lived with purpose and strength. He will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Carter; their children, Vance and Camryn Carter; siblings, Steven Carter, LeAnn (Scott) Woodward; mother and father-in-law, Marla and Terry Devaney, sisters-in-law, Lisa (Keith) Edwards and Tara (Ryan) Mau. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members he loved dearly.
He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Wayne and LaVon Carter, grandparents, as well as aunts and uncles.
Gerald's memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 6th between the hours of 4:30-7:30 at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Memorial service to follow at 7:30pm.
