Gerald Leo (Jerry) Schwartz, 85, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012. He was born January 5, 1927 in rural Darlington, Wisconsin; the son of Bernard and Mary (Aurit) Schwartz. He was united in marriage to Shirley Carpenter, February 18, 1947 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. He graduated from Darlington High School and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked at Lane Lumber Company for 18 years in Darlington and moved to Belvidere in 1964 and worked for Sundstrand in Belvidere for 27 years and then the Belvidere – Alpine Bank for 16 years. He and Shirley loved to travel and they traveled the world. He was a life member of Darlington American Legion for 60 years; and the Darlington Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Shirley and daughters, Judy (Steve) Schabacker; Becky (Loyd) Mayberry; and son, Larry Schwartz all of Belvidere; 6 grandchildren, Lori (Paul) Ollmann; Dan (Jean) Schabacker; Brad (Richel) Mayberry; Paula Mayberry; Matt (Amy) Mayberry; Mike (Allison) Mayberry; 11 great-grandchildren, Matt, Emily, Katie Ollmann; Chris, Steven, Michelle Schabacker; Austin, Kallon, Preston, Lilah, Grace Mayberry; 2 brothers, Dick Schwartz of Evansville, Wisconsin and Harold Schwartz of Comache, Iowa.
