Gerald Lee “Jerry” Heshelman, 80, of Rockton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026. He was born in Belvidere, Illinois, to Glen and Mildred (Butz) Heshelman.

Jerry graduated from Belvidere High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked as a union refrigeration pipe fitter, a career he took great pride in and pursued with dedication and a strong work ethic.

Jerry had a lifelong passion for hot rods and classic cars. He loved the beauty, power, and craftsmanship of old cars and enjoyed the time spent admiring and working with them. He will be remembered for his service to his country, his years of hard work, his love of cars, and the lasting memories he created with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Heshelman; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Heshelman; nephew, Curtis (Tracy) Heshelman; niece, Kimberly (Jason) Rateike; great-nephews, Tyler (Shelby), Ryan (Gretchen), and Chance; and great-niece, Isla Heshelman.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jerry on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois.

Cremation rites have been accorded with Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will take place at Belvidere Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
