Gerald Leroy Hansen, 83, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. Born on February 23, 1942, Gerald was a lifelong resident of Belvidere and a proud graduate of Belvidere High School.

On April 8, 1961, Gerald married the love of his life, Belva. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion, raising three children and sharing 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Gerald was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who always put family first. He had a strong work ethic that began early in life while transporting grain with his grandfather. Over the years, he worked in various roles throughout the Belvidere area before building a lasting career with General Telephone and later Verizon, where he worked until his retirement.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Gerald served his country with honor. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—spending time outdoors caring for his lawn, admiring classic cars, and adding to his beloved eagle collection.

Gerald's steadfast presence, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gerald is survived by his son, James (Tammy) Hansen, grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Jared, Miranda, and Kaytelyn; and great grandchild, Crysta, as well as sisters, Sue and Marcia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

He is welcomed into heaven by his beloved wife, Belva Idell Hansen, daughters, Kimberly and Angela, grandson, PJ, as well as grandparents Eva and MJ Ramsey.
