George A. Schultz, 75, of Marengo, IL, passed away suddenly, December 29, 2016. Born February 22, 1941, in Belvidere, IL, son of Amos and Wannetta (Hammond) Schultz. He graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1960. George married the love of his life, Rita Young in July of 1962. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army. George worked for Ipsen Industries for 45 years. He was a member of the VFW, Coon Creek Casters, and the Rockford Area Coin Club. George was the past commander for the American Legion in Marengo. He was an avid collector of many things, enjoyed fishing and golfing. George never met a stranger and always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He never missed an activity for his children and grandchildren.
George is loved and missed by his children, Jeff (Lisa) Schultz, and Brian (Sandi) Schultz; grandchildren, Elliot and Tim Schultz, Nathan and Evan Schultz; brothers, Darrell Schultz, and Michael (Linda) Butz; sister-in-law's, Margaret Schultz, Sharon Stanton, and Beverly Goodman; brother-in-law, Elvin (Marge) Young; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita; his parents, stepfather, Charles Butz; twin brother, Gerald Schultz; brothers, James, and John "Jack" Schultz; sister-in-law's, Kathleen and Harriet Schultz; and brother-in-law, Richard Goodman.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Tom Hays officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 at the funeral home, and from 9:30-10:15 a.m., prior to the service.
