George B. Kelly, 94, of Belvidere, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2024. He was the youngest son of Horace and Bridget (O'Loy) Kelly of Coinisbrough, England, born on September 11, 1929, in Belvidere, IL. George graduated from Belvidere High School in 1948. He was on the unbeaten Bucs Football Team in 1947. He was also a member of the "B" Club, Golf, Basketball, and Baseball team for the Bucs. After graduation, he played Semi-Pro Baseball in Arkansas and Kansas. George started working at 10. Some of his lifetime jobs include: Dean's Foods, National Sewing Machine, Barber-Coleman, National Grey Iron Foundry (Moline Corp. St. Charles, IL) He retired in 2021 at the age of 91 from Midwest Feeder, Belvidere, IL.

George's favorite activities included bowling at Concordia Lanes, golfing at Belmar Country Club, people, and spending time with family. George married Barbara J. Haffenden on August 26, 1950. They were married 64 years until 2014 when Barbara passed away.

Survivors include, sisters in- law, Margery (Haffenden) Johnson and Marion (Haffenden) Ernesti; nieces and nephews; four children, Michael (Suzanne) Kelly, Kevin (Nikki) Kelly, Dee (John) Schoepski, & Caroline "Carrie" (Alphonso Bonner) Kelly Wright; Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Great-Great Grandchildren and 5th Kelly Generation.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Haffenden) Kelly; parents, Horace and Bridget (O'Loy) Kelly; sister, Maureen (Kelly) Fleming; brother-in-law, George Flemming; brothers, John Kelly and Peter Kelly; sister in-law, Mitzi Kelly; brother in-law, Ralph Haffenden; sister in- law, Barbara (Fish) Haffenden; sister in-law Ruth (Haffenden) Hillman; brother in-law, Paul Hillman; brother in- law, Richard Johnson; and brother in- law , Larry Ernesti.

The wake visitation for George will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL. The funeral service will be Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Gardens Memorial Cemetery, 9800 IL 76 Belvidere, IL. A luncheon will follow at The Moose Club, Belvidere, IL. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Trustwell Assisted Living. George lived there the last few years of his life and considered staff and residence his family. George was loved by everyone he met, and he will always be remembered for his sky blue eyes, a heart of gold, witty personality, and the gift of gab by making everyone laugh.
