George Eskew, 85, Poplar Grove, IL passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 at Northwood care center after a short illness.  George was born November 15, 1930 the son of Sumner Morton and Kathyn Eskew. After graduating High School George proudly served his country with the Navy.  He married Catherine E. (Riehl) on April 15, 1957 in East St. Louis, IL. George worked for Camcar where he retired in 1997. He was a Civil War enthusiast, enjoyed reading and British sitcoms.  George made his spiritual home at St. John's United Church of Christ.

George  is loved and will be missed by his wife, Catherine;  sons, George Eskew of Cartersville, GA, Lawrence (Kari) Eskew of Belvidere; Daughter in law, Jamie Eskew; grandchildren, Anthony Eskew, Christopher Eskew, Sam Eskew; sister, Maryann (Robert) Clark. George is preceded in death by his parents; son, Morty Eskew and grandson, Patrick.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, Feburary 12, 2016 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL with Rev. Muriel Morley Jahn, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W.
