George R. Ankele, 68, of Poplar Grove, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. Born November 18, 1944 in Chicago; son of Robert and Adeline (Stazak) Ankele. Served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Married Maureen Springer on May 26, 1971 in Belvidere. Worked as an electronics engineer for Pacific Scientific, now known as Danaher Controls. George was a life member of the VFW Belvidere Post #1461 and member of the American Legion Boone Post #77, and enjoyed model trains.Survivors include his loving wife Maureen; sons Christopher (Maria) of Oxford, WI, Douglas (Michelle) of Loves Park, Roger of Rockford; and granddaughter Madaleine. Predeceased by his parents.
