Georg J. Stangassinger, 77, of Belvidere, died suddenly, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the E.R. of Swedish-American Medical Center. Born April 27, 1937 in Marktschellerberg, Germany; the son of Georg and Anna (Kranawetvogl) Stangassinger. He married Olive Jeanette Applewhite in Belvidere on June 17, 1972. He owned and operated Georg's Brush and Bucket Painting and Decorating. Georg was a member of Belvidere First Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Jean Stangassinger; 2 sons, Kurt and Ray; step-daughter, Linda (Gene) Johannes; step-son, Bruce Paris and several grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents and a brother, Josef.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue. The Rev. Dale Anderson to officiate. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials to Belvidere Keen Age Center or the Boone County Historical Museum.
