Genevieve M Sanford of Loves Park IL; went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family  on Friday evening March 25, 2016 at Maple Crest Nursing Home of Belvidere Illinois following a lingering illness.



She was born May 20, 1921 in Janesville WI, the daughter of Elizabeth M (Schutt) Dewey & Glenn Arthur Dewey.  She was married to William (Bill) E Sanford on June 7, 1947 in Rockford Illinois.  Mrs. Sanford was a Winnebago County resident since February 1977; Previously she resided on dairy farms in New Milford IL; Clinton WI; and Poplar Grove IL.



Genevieve's working career started at Washburn Company Rockford IL; Admiral Company; Alma Nelson Nursing Home; and she retired in May 1988 from First Assembly Church working in the kitchen preparing meals for students, church occasions, Kiddie College & for a while the Senior Living Facility.  Genevieve was always involved in the activities that her children were involved in while they were attending school in the various school districts.  Genevieve was the dedicated farm wife, who lived and breathed farming.  She raised her family to appreciate farming, the outdoors, and the love of the land that comes with it.



She is survived by her children; Christine L (Jerry) Willhauck of Gastonia NC; Terry (Susan)

Sanford of Belvidere IL; Lynn A (Phil Rotundi) Sanford of Tamarac FL; & son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Theroux of Rockford IL. Seven grandchildren; Scott, Laura, Patricia, Amy, Kara, Jessica & Derek. Eleven great grandchildren; Joseph, Cody, Lacey, Angelica, Abigail, Alison, Austin, Drake, Drew, Reese & Paisley. Three great-great grandchildren, Sannia, Amelia, & April. Three sisters; Betty Lerch of Rockford IL; Joan Lind of Tamarac FL; & Shirley Warnock of Prairie Grove AR; two sisters-in-law; Shirley Sanford of Darien WI; and Beverly Mitchell of Delavan WI; and many nieces & nephews.



Preceding her in death were; husband William E 12/22/1993, daughter Sharon E Theroux 4/17/2015; her parents Henry A & Elizabeth Linneman & Glenn A Dewey; two sisters; Donna LaComb & Henrietta Linneman.



The funeral will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Anderson Funeral Home of Belvidere IL.  The Rev. Allan Buss of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Belvidere, IL will officiate.  Burial will be at Long Prairie Cemetery of Capron IL.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home of Belvidere IL.

A memorial has been established to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children Chicago IL.
