Gene Laurence Groves, 78, of Belvidere died Tuesday February 7, 2006 at Northwoods Care Centre. He was born December 2, 1927 in Mission, South Dakota to Wesley L. and Catherine Groves. He worked as a mechanic for Ford while living in Texas, he later retired from Green Giant in Belvidere after 10 years of service there. He shared a special bond with his only child, Vianna, and arrived at the wonderful reunion with her early Tuesday morning. He was a loving grandpa who enjoyed telling stories, especially about hunting. He loved old cars and was an avid Chicago White Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan.He is survived by grandchildren: Kevin (Tracy) Frederick of Roscoe, IL., Ronnie Frederick, Jr. of Poplar Grove, Michelle Frederick of Poplar Grove, Dawn Frederick of Poplar Grove, Heather Frederick of Belvidere, Joe Frederick of Poplar Grove, great-grandchildren: Colton, Madison, Johnathon, Catelynn, Morgan, son-in-law: Ron Frederick, brother Clyde Groves, and sister Vernyce Willingham. He is predeceased by parents, daughter Vianna Frederick, and former wife Lavonne Hutcheson.
