Gay Lu Beling, 54, of Belvidere, IL, formerly of North San Francisco, CA, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Maple Crest Care Centre in Belvidere surrounded by her loving family. Gay was born March 3, 1961 in Rockford, IL, daughter of Roy A. and Phyllis M. (Brick) Beling. She was a graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1979. Gay worked as a caregiver while she lived in California. She thoroughly enjoyed exploring San Francisco and the area with her brother. Gay had a huge love of animals, from her rabbits she took care of in high school to the seals on Fisherman's Wharf of Pier 39. Gay's health started to deteriorate on May 16, 2014, when she had a stroke that paralyzed her right side; she recovered with physical therapy at Water's Edge Nursing Hospital and Nursing Home. In December of 2014, she was diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer; in January of 2015, it had turned into stage 4 cancer. Gay made a trip from Alameda, California in a Mercedes Sprinter Ambulance, where she rode for 35 hours, across 8 states and 2100 miles to Maple Crest Care Center where she was for 48 days.

Gay is loved and will be missed by her siblings, Bruce A. Beling, Joy Johnson- Beauregard; very good friend, Therese Gilliam; new special friend, Jan Harty. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Phyllis; and Aunt Grace Beling.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere IL, 61008 with Rev. Cory Whitford officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to Maple Crest Care Centre in Gay's name.
